You’d like to write non-fiction. We can help.
Maybe you need someone help motivate you, give you honest feedback and show you how non-fiction publishing works? We can. Between us we’ve had six non-fiction books published. We know the ropes, the pitfalls and how the publishing industry works.
How is the course structured?
Pitch to Publication is a 4-module, 8-week course, delivered by email with phone / Skype support. You will start and finish the course at the same time as other students, although we do run the course several times a year.
You may already have an idea for your book – great! – or you may want to share your thoughts before getting started. We can advise on what’s likely to appeal to publishers and what may not. We’ll work in partnership with you so you have the best possible chance of publication if that’s your aim.
- Four modules with exclusive input from publishers
- Four written assignments
- Detailed feedback
- Telephone / Skype support included
Each module includes exclusive advice we have been given from highly experienced publishers on what they don’t want to see – common mistakes that writers make – and what they do want to read in submissions. As you work through the modules and submit your assignments, we show you how to:
- Find the right tone and style for your book
- Write your author biography
- Structure your book in chapters
- Choose the right publisher
- Write a sample chapter
Then, all that’s left for you to do is send your proposal to a publisher.
What the course includes
All feedback on your assignments is in writing. We each read your work, discuss our thoughts on it together, then one of us will write up the comments. During the course we are here if you want a quick piece of advice at any stage – simply email your questions and we’ll respond quickly. Our aim is to help you to be a better writer and to produce the best proposal possible.
Both courses run three or four times a year depending on numbers.
- The next course starts 1 February 2018
- FEES: The fee is £350. This covers all course materials, including unique input from publishers, four marked assignments, a 1-hour phone call, and email support in between your assignments if required.
Beyond the course
Further individual tutoring and mentoring on an hourly basis is available longer-term is this is something you would like.
If you would like help with your writing ideas or a writing project that is outside of the course content – which could include editing your work, or supporting you if you are already a published author or an experienced writer – please do get in touch and we can discuss your needs.
